ICA-Africa President Champions Cooperative Growth During High-Level Mission in Togo

Under the high patronage of High Chief Oriyomi Ayeola, President of ICA-Africa, a high-level cooperative mission was held in Togo from August 12–14, 2025. Organized by the Maison des Coopératives du Togo (MCT) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Village Water Supply, and Rural Development, and supported by GIZ and FEDERCASSE, the mission formed part of the global celebrations of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.
During the visit, ICA-Africa President High Chief Oriyomi Ayeola commended Togo’s efforts to strengthen its cooperative movement and emphasized the critical role of government support in building an enabling environment for cooperatives.
The mission also provided an opportunity to spotlight both the achievements and opportunities within Togo’s cooperative sector. Workshop sessions explored key issues, including the state of cooperatives in the country, new financing opportunities, digital innovation, and access to markets.
The mission also featured visits to local cooperatives and women’s groups, where participants witnessed the impact of grassroots initiatives on livelihoods and community development. The mission concluded with a recognition ceremony honoring cooperatives, institutions, and individuals whose efforts are shaping a stronger and more inclusive cooperative ecosystem.
