CoopStar: Empowering the African Cooperative Movement as a key player in the transition towards a circular, green, and sustainable economy
The International Cooperative Alliance-Africa in collaboration with The Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy and the Office of Cooperation Development (ODCO), successfully held the second CoopStar (Cooperatives for a Sustainable Transformation in Africa) Workshop in Rabat from May 26 to 28, 2024.
Supported by the International Cooperative Alliance, the International Labor Organization, the Korean Federation of Community Credit Unions (KFCC), Cera/BRS, and KU Leuven, the CoopStar initiative aims to drive the African cooperative movement towards a circular, green, and sustainable economy, aligning with the UN Agenda 2030.
Following the preliminary workshop held in Nairobi, Kenya, in December 2023, which brought together experts from 18 African countries to lay the foundation for the book project on the role of cooperatives in transitioning to a circular, green, and sustainable economy, this event focused on finalizing the book chapters. It aimed to explore new strategies, share best practices, and build sustainable networks for cooperative development across Africa.
