09 Jun 2026

The International Cooperative Alliance- Africa (ICA-Africa) is pleased to announce the election of Mr. Macloud Malonza as the new President of ICA-Africa during the Special ICA-Africa Regional Assembly held in Maputo, Mozambique.

Mr. Malonza assumes the presidency after serving as Vice President of the ICA-Africa Board and subsequently as Acting President following the untimely passing of the late High Chief Ayeola Oriyomi, the former ICA-Africa President.

Mr. Malonza brings to the ICA-Africa presidency a wealth of experience that spans decades of service at the highest levels of the cooperative movement. At the national level, he currently serves as Chairman of the Co-operative Alliance of Kenya (CAK), the umbrella body representing Kenya's entire cooperative movement. CAK brings together over 22,000 cooperative societies and unions with a combined membership of more than 15 million Kenyans, making it one of the largest cooperative networks on the continent.

His leadership portfolio extends well beyond the CAK. Mr. Malonza previously served as Vice Chairman of the CAK Board, and continues to serve simultaneously as Chairman of Harambee SACCO Society Limited, one of Africa's largest and most successful savings and credit cooperatives, and as Chairman of Co-op Holdings Co-operative Society Limited, the majority shareholder and strategic investor in the Co-operative Bank of Kenya. Through these roles, Mr. Malonza has directly shaped financial systems and cooperative enterprises that impact millions of lives.

With Mr. Macloud Malonza at the helm, ICA-Africa enters a new era of leadership anchored in experience, grassroots understanding, and a bold vision for cooperative-led development across the African continent.

ICA-Africa congratulates President Malonza and looks forward to a period of transformative progress, deeper member engagement, and strengthened cooperation across Africa's cooperative landscape.
